Born in 1963 and raised in the Southern part of Lower Saxony, I now live and work in the Frankfurt area.
It was the love for nature that made me use the camera since I was 16. As a result, I found my subjects mainly in the fields of botany, biospheres and landscapes. The extensive collection of material from that period is represented by the agency "Natur im Bild" and further partner agencies. Since 1998 I have been concentrating more and more on black and white works and the choice of subjects has changed accordingly. New subjects have come into focus, the range has been widened. Today I am exclusively working in black and white.

The reduction to grey scales clearly supports my way of seeing: Abstraction by structures, patterns and shapes and the look for unconventional images. In absence of colours the quality of light becomes much more significant, either with bright sunlight and deep shadows or even more so with subtle soft or dim light of overcast sky. It requires a totally different way of seeing and the eye needs some training on that. Besides this I am always trying to show a personal perception in my pictures.

Last but not least the various possibilities with the darkroom work are very important to me. Developing and printing by myself is a must to control the whole creative process and ensure the technical quality of the prints.
